WSJ Wine 12-Bottle vs. 15-Bottle Offers

WSJ Wine Logo 120x60WSJ Wine Club from The Wall Street Journal has two different offers

  1. 12 bottles with free gift
  2. 15 bottles

So what's the difference? Let's compare them:

Feature 12-Bottle Offer 15-Bottle Offer
Bottles of Wine 12 15
Types of Wine Red
White
Mixed
Red
White
Mixed
Value $189.99 $239.99
Initial Cost $69.99 $69.99
Savings $120.00 $170.00
Initial Cost / Bottle $5.83 $4.67
Free gift Lever-action corkscrew set None
Ongoing cost $149.99 $149.99
Ongoing bottles 12 12
Ongoing cost / bottle $12.50 $12.50

As you can see, the difference in the two offers lies only in the initial offer: choose either 12 bottles and a free gift, or 15 bottles of wine.

Personally, I'm not a fan of fancy corkscrews and prefer a simple waiters key (see How to open a wine bottle with a “waiter's key”) and therefore I'd choose the 15 bottle offer, but if you were giving this as a gift, the corkscrew may be a welcome addition to the package.
